Upcoming Tybee Winter Events

Tybee Tour de Art
The Tybee Tour de Art returns for its second installment on Dec. 17 from 12 to 5 p.m. The market will feature more than 60 artists and vendors spread throughout Tybee’s North End shops, galleries, bars and restaurants. It’s going to be a great opportunity to shop for unique items that you won’t find anywhere else. If you’re doing some last-minute gift shopping, you’re sure to find something special for everyone on your list at the Tour de Art.

Tour de Lights
On Dec. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m., A-J’s Dockside Restaurant will host the 13th annual Tour de Lights. It’s a fun parade where locals adorn their bikes and golf carts in glittering lights and holiday decor and ride throughout the island. In addition to the parade, there will also be a raffle and a silent auction featuring coveted prizes from local artisans and businesses. Participation is $25 per person, which includes appetizers, entry to the best decorated bike and cart contest, door prizes and live entertainment. The proceeds will benefit Helping Hand of Tybee, so you can do some good and help spread holiday cheer to those less fortunate.

New Year’s Eve Fireworks
Each year, Tybee rings in the New Year with festive fireworks at the iconic Pier and Pavilion. The light show kicks off at 11:59 p.m. and lasts until 12:15 a.m., carrying everyone over into the New Year. Gather on the beach with your family and friends, and watch fireworks light up the nighttime sky. It’s a great way to start your year off with a bang.

Tybee Polar Plunge
On New Year’s Day at noon, thousands of thrill-seeking resolutioners will rush into the brisk Atlantic Ocean from Tybee’s shores. This annual island tradition is called the Tybee Polar Plunge, and it’s great fun for the whole family. The event kicks off with the legendary Gang of Goofs costume contest and parade. Participants in groups of three or more are encouraged to don their wackiest costumes and compete for the coveted Le Gang of Goofs trophy and cash prizes. Registration is available online, and it includes a souvenir long-sleeve 2023 Tybee Polar Plunge T-shirt.

Tybee Restaurant Week
Tybee Restaurant Week is scheduled to return Jan. 21st – 30th, providing the public with a special opportunity to try some of the island’s best eateries. Look forward to prix fixe menus that’ll allow you to sample the best of what each participating restaurant has to offer. Restaurant Week is perfect for foodies who want to explore Tybee’s culinary scene. More details to come.
