Things to Do on a Rainy Day in Tybee
As the saying goes ‘April showers bring May flowers.’ Figuratively, this means that good things follow periods of adversity. But literally, the proverb rings true as well. And now that we are in the month of April, we can expect more frequent rain. Of course, having made it through the winter, we’re all looking forward to long, sunny days spent at the beach. But on the occasional rainy day, there’s still much to enjoy here on Tybee. Don’t let a little rain keep you cooped up inside the house. Instead, take advantage of all the exciting indoor opportunities the island presents. Here are some fun things to do on a rainy day on Tybee.

Shop ‘til you drop.
Use a rainy day as a reason to relish some retail therapy. Tybee boasts an array of island shops vending beachwear, art, gifts and so much more. Visit our friends at The Shoppes at 1207 and Tybee Oaks or scope out the stores lining Tybrisa Street. Whether you’re looking to treat yourself to something nice or getting a head start on Mother’s Day – it’ll be here before you know it – you’re sure to discover all sorts of great finds when shopping on Tybee.

Go gaming.
Get your game on at a local arcade during a downpour. As you know, time flies when you’re having fun, so a game room is the perfect place to wait out any inclement weather. The Crab Shack recently opened up their new game room, and it’s the largest on the island. They have fun games for kids and adults alike, and you can load your winnings onto a Mastercard Gift Card, which you can use to go shopping (see above). Rock House also has an awesome arcade where you can seek shelter from the rain. They’ve got pinball, air hockey and video games galore, so you can easily spend the day nice and dry while having tons of fun.

Make it a movie day.
Rainy days and movies go hand in hand. But instead of spending the day glued to your couch, get up and go see a movie (or show) at the Post. Tybee Post Theater shows nostalgic movies for your viewing pleasure. And unlike other theaters, you won’t have to spend an arm and a leg just to catch your favorite flick. All the movies at the post are affordable, ensuring everyone can enjoy a great show.
