Summertime Movies in the Park

The summer series of Movies in the Park at Memorial Park on Tybee Island are here again.  The third Saturday of June, July, and August, family-friendly movies will be shown at Memorial Park when the stars in the sky shine bright enough to let the stars be seen on the inflatable screen that will be in front of the exterior wall of the Gym.  The movies are compliments of the City of Tybee Island and a variety of sponsors, including the Tybee Island YMCA.

Everyone is invited to come out to the park with their picnic blankets or lawn chairs and dinner – from a local restaurant or homemade – to enjoy this fun, free event!

Memorial Park is located near City Hall – on Butler Avenue between the Tybee gym and the public library. Please keep in mind that the movie will be shown inside the gym if there is inclement weather.

Other events on Tybee can be found on the calendar at www.cityoftybee.org or by calling 912-472-5071. That’s 912-472-5071.

ABOUT

The City of Tybee Island, Georgia is the northernmost barrier island of Georgia. With a wild bird sanctuary, over three miles of ocean beaches, and salt marshes on the back river, outdoor recreation activities abound for residents and visitors to the island. As a key defense point to the important Savannah port, Tybee’s Fort Screven, Tybee Post Theater, Fort Pulaski, and the Tybee Island and Cockspur Lighthouses combined with the unique architectures of the island’s raised cottages form a rich backdrop for history buffs. Attracting a strong artistic community, there are several local art galleries. Keeping the island interesting year-round are several art festivals, community-based events and activities, and annual parades and festivals. The Marine Science Center cooperates with Georgia’s DNR to protect threatened sea turtle species by searching for nests, protecting their eggs, and making sure hatchlings make it to sea.
