Summer Send-Off: Local Labor Day Weekend Festivities
With August coming to a close, the summer will soon be behind us, but not without one last salute before the onset of fall. Labor Day weekend is an eventful time in the Coastal Empire, with lots of fun festivities to take part in. If you’ll be in the area for the holiday, be sure to take advantage of everything the island and surrounding area has to offer. Here’s a round-up of Labor Day celebrations that you won’t want to miss.

Labor Day Beach Bash
Celebrate Labor Day weekend island style with our annual Labor Day Beach Bash. From Aug. 30 to Sept. 1, enjoy three days of live music from our iconic Pier & Pavilion. Presented in part by Riptide Bar and Tybee Island Main Street, the Labor Day Beach Bash is the best way to send off summer. Soak up the sun while enjoying the musical stylings of talented local and regional acts. It all kicks off Friday, Aug. 30 at 7:30 with a riveting performance by The Swinging Medallions, South Carolina’s beloved beach music band. Then on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 7:30 p.m., Eagles tribute band On The Border will take to the pavilion for a stellar show. The weekend beach bash will culminate on Sunday, Sept. 1 with a lively performance by Terrance Simien, who will bring his unique Zydeco Experience to our coastal community. Then for the first time, there will be a spectacular drone show Sunday night. If you’ve yet to spend Labor Day weekend on Tybee, don’t let this next opportunity pass you up!

Post-Labor Day Beach Clean Bash
Of course, after three days of partying and performances, our beautiful beach will need a little TLC. Join community members Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 10 a.m. for a beach sweep to clear any leftover litter from the Labor Day Beach Bash. Meet up at 1509 Strand Ave. just north of the pier. All equipment will be provided, so just bring yourself, family and friends and join us as we restore South Beach to its pristine condition.

Coastal Summer Celebration
Just 20 minutes from Tybee in Savannah’s historic downtown, Plant Riverside District will host their Coastal Summer Celebration over Labor Day weekend. From Thursday, Aug. 29 to Monday Sept. 2, Savannah’s entertainment district will feature a flurry of activities. Enjoy live music at PRD’s various venues. Performing acts include Mily Kinner, DJ Savage Sunday, Bob Taylor, Individually Twisted, Eric Clark and more. In addition to the performances, guests can enjoy a champagne brunch on Saturday, Aug. 31 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the beautiful rooftop lounge, Myrtle and Rose, as well as a free movie night in the park during which “A Night at the Museum” will be screened. It’s expected to be a fun celebration that the whole family can enjoy.
