Special Traffic Protocols
(from the City Manager’s Office)
Due to high volumes of traffic expected on Saturday, March 16th the City of Tybee Island will be implanting special traffic control measures. The attached map shows where barricades will be placed to control traffic flow and ensure emergency vehicle access to the south end of the Island.
Traffic data has shown that on specific weekends high volumes of traffic come on the island in condensed time periods and creates significant public safety issues. To ensure access for emergency vehicles to the south end of the island these special traffic measures are being implemented.
Additionally, we will be implementing these same measures on Saturday, April 20th, Saturday, April 27th and Thursday, July 4th.
Staging of the barricades will begin on Friday and they will be put into place on Saturday Morning. Residents will have access to their properties at all times.
The City is hosting a town hall meeting Wednesday, March 13th at the City Council Chambers in the Burke Day Public Safety Building 78 Van Horn from 7 pm to 8 pm.
