Hotel Tybee is the largest hotel and event venue on the island, and the site’s accommodating staff have spent the last few years curating a memorable guest experience complete with all the comforts of island life. Manager Brett Loehr is proud of everything that the luxe hotel has to offer: “The hotel has 208 guestrooms . . . two conference rooms, smaller breakout rooms and the amazing event center, [which] specializes in hosting weddings, reunions and large corporate events. Guests love the amazing views of the beach and Atlantic Ocean.” Clearly, Hotel Tybee is a great venue for any occasion.

In addition to the spacious rooms and opulent ocean views, guests can enjoy the all-new décor during their stay. Hotel Tybee has been undergoing an aesthetic remodel for the last few years, and despite some formidable hurricanes, things are moving along quite nicely. Total guestroom updates featuring stylish new furniture, relaxing paint schemes, luxurious white bedding atop brand new mattresses and state-of-the-art flat screen TVs are just some of the renovations patrons can look forward to. And there’s a lot more to come in the near future.

Though the hotel is changing things up as it continues to modernize, it is still very much connected to its longstanding heritage. “We love and honor the hotel’s amazing 128-year legacy,” said Loehr. A second Hotel Tybee was reconstructed after the first burned down in 1909. It served auspicious vacationers for more than 50 years until it was acquired by new owners in 1989, who renamed the site the Ocean Plaza Beach Resort. The property came under the current ownership in 2014. “The decision to rename the property Hotel Tybee was the first of many steps to honor our past and to continue the rich tradition of providing legendary beach vacations on the coast of Georgia,” he explained.

Neither flame nor flood has been able to stop Hotel Tybee thus far. The hotel staff are committed to delivering unmatched hospitality to guests for many more years to come. “We absolutely love being on Tybee Island. The hotel has become a genuine labor of love for my entire team,” Loehr began, “Over the past two years we’ve had to recover from three major storms. The recovery process has pulled us together and made us stronger as a team.”

Hotel Tybee offers unique specials, to include the occasional BOGO, throughout the entire year. Visit them online to check out the latest deals. Between the history, the location, the picturesque seascape and the size, there are several reasons to book your stay at Hotel Tybee, but it really comes down to the service. Loehr said it best: “We treat all our guests as if they are family.” It doesn’t get better than that.
