Giving Back: Support a Local Charity Here on Tybee

giving back

Our society wouldn’t function without generous contributions from the nonprofit sector. From helping housing insecure families find homes to rehabilitating neglected animals, nonprofits provide all kinds of aid for the benefit of the communities they serve. Here on Tybee, there are several local nonprofits doing great work to uplift our community. If you want to give back, consider showing your support for these local nonprofits and any others that inspire you.

Tybee Clean Beach Volunteers

Tybee Clean Beach Volunteers is a grassroots organization comprised of local volunteers who collect beach litter regularly to keep Tybee’s beaches clean and pristine. During these beach sweeps, volunteers generate no additional trash, and most of what is collected is recycled or repurposed. To support Tybee Clean Beach, consider joining them on a beach sweep. Volunteers are always welcome to participate. Just check their event calendar to find out when upcoming sweeps are scheduled. You can also make a tax-deductible donation if you’d like to support them financially.

Tybee Marine Science Center

Educating visitors of all ages about local marine life, the Tybee Marine Science Center serves to preserve the island’s marine ecology and biodiversity. The center provides guided tours and activities to educate visitors, fostering an appreciation for local marine life and the Atlantic coast. The nonprofit is always looking for volunteers and has plenty of volunteer opportunities available. If you’re passionate about protecting and preserving our marine environment and the life it supports, consider volunteering with the Tybee Marine Science Center. Other ways to support the center include becoming a member or supporting their Bringing the Outside In capital campaign.
