Drive down Jones Avenue and you’ll notice a colorful new mural adorning the side of The Cafe on 80, at the corner of Jones Avenue and First Street. It’s more than a makeover story. It’s a great story about how the Tybee Island Development Authority/Main Street program supports local businesses. When our Main Street Board of Directors learned that the business wanted to paint a mural on the building and already had an artist lined up, our Main Street Board jumped into action to make it happen.
Mural Requirements call for Main Street Board approval and a permit from the city. The Main Street board called a special meeting to review and approve the meeting and work with the city to issue the permit n time for the artist to start work. The mural now brightens the side of the building along with a new takeout window and outdoor dining space!
