FINAL DECISION: All businesses close at 11 pm, except restaurants may sell take-out food until 2:45 am, if the customer has called in the order. So the convenience stores and bars will close earlier than they normally do. Effective on Friday evening. Can be reviewed, but effective at least until April 1st. Unanimous vote to approve.
It was originally 10 pm, but 2 bar owners asked for 11 pm.
RESIDENT SUPPORT:
No late fees on utility bills. No utility cut-off for “the time being.”
Non-emergency City personnel are not working on-site this week.
If you usually go to the fire station for blood pressure checks, those will now be done outside of the building.
Volunteer firefighters will not report until further notice.
DPW are disinfecting playgrounds, beach crossovers, and continuing to do emergency repair work.
Court has been postponed. The campground is at 50% capacity and won’t accept any more campers. No activities at the campground.
Residents can still get building permits and inspections. Jan Leviner, Clerk of Council, will continue to work remotely.
All meetings have been canceled this week. We’ll decide about next week at the end of this week.
IT department has everyone set up to work remotely.
Dump hours are normal this week. It’s a health issue to keep it open.
Mayor Shirley encourages everyone to check the FB and web site pages to stay current.
BUSINESS SUPPORT:
The city will allow restaurants to have 2 parking places for picking up take-out orders. They’ll use cones and signs.
Mayor Shirley communicated with Carter, Petrie, and Watson. Tybee CC asked them and Gov Kemp to defer sales taxes on businesses for the months of March and April. It would help all business owners. The City can waive late fees for upcoming business licenses. They can extend the deadline for another month. There are already procedures in place to assist residents with late fees, on a case-by-case basis.
Letter asks for their consideration in allowing a mobile testing unit on Tybee. Ben Watson is in the health field. Ben reiterated that people should follow the CDC recommendations.
Future meetings:
The scheduled March 26, 2020 CC meeting will be postponed.
