Celebrate Halloween at these Spook-tacular Events
The spooky season is upon us. A time for pumpkin carving, frightful festivities and copious amounts of candy. On Tybee, we love a good reason to celebrate and Halloween presents plentiful opportunities to do that. We have an array of haunted happenings taking place leading up to the holiday, and we hope you’ll join in on the fun. Don your scariest costume, indulge your sweet tooth and prepare to have a terrific time at these upcoming events.
Thrillers at the Post
Tybee Post Theater will get you in the Halloween spirit with several special screenings of classic horror films. On Tuesday, Oct. 24, catch “Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein,” a horror comedy about two unlucky baggage handlers who come across crates that contain a harrowing surprise. Following on Wednesday, enjoy a screening of “The Exorcist,” one of the highest-grossing horror films of all time, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. On Thursday, the 26th, see our beloved barrier isle on the big screen in “The Slayer: A Tybee Horror Film,” which was filmed locally in 1982. The big finale is Friday, Oct. 27, when “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” will play. Movie goers are encouraged to wear their best Rocky Horror costumes and purchase a prop kit for audience participation. Each film starts at 7 p.m. and tickets can be purchased at tybeeposttheater.org/shows.
Trunk or Treat
The Tybee Island YMCA will host The Great Trunk or Treat Friday, Oct. 27 from 6-8 p.m. at Memorial Park. Dress up in your favorite costume and bring a bag for all the sweet treats available at this delightfully frightful family-friendly event.
