Catch Beachy Vibes at Tybee Post Music Fest 2024

Calling all beach music buffs: The Tybee Post Music Festival is coming up soon! A FUNdraising event benefiting the iconic Tybee Post Theater, this music festival is a communal celebration of beach music featuring local and regional bands that attracts hundreds of locals and tourists alike every year. Now in its third year, the Post Music Fest is bigger and better than ever. For the first time, the festival will span three days — Thursday, Nov. 7 through Saturday, Nov. 9 — providing ample opportunities to hear from bands that locals know and love while also discovering new favorites. Another new element for this year’s festival is the place. The first two years, the Post Music Fest was hosted at Hotel Tybee, but this year it will take place on ground at the Tybee Post Theater. And that’s not all that’s new for year three.

“Each night, the headliner will perform inside the theater at 8 p.m., but we’ll also have a big lawn party in front of the theater from 5–8 p.m. with a different food truck each night,” said Evan Goetz, Tybee Post Theater’s executive director. “The Aloha Joes, which is a local surf band, will be playing on our roof each night!”

The nightly parties will feature exciting games and concessions enjoyed on the spacious lawn under the energetic sounds of The Aloha Joes, who will play from 6–7:30 p.m. before the headlining performers. And each night can expect a completely different vibe.

“Thursday night is our local night. It’s our way of supporting local artists, and it’s called the Low Country Allstar Review,” said Goetz. “That’s hosted by Matt Eckstine, who’s a local musician, and he’s bringing in Spec Hosti Band, Lyn Avenue, Eric Daubert and the Eric Jones Trio. So a lot of bands that night on stage, and it’s a great way to support local musicians.”

The headlining performer for Friday evening is The Embers, “which is a famous beach band out in North Carolina,” Goetz said. “They’ve got a couple of hit songs — your favorite beach music. They’ll play some covers as well. It’s a good dancing show, so get up and dance!”

The festival rounds out on Saturday with a stellar performance by Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors.

“I would describe them as Americana folk, really good storytellers and musicians [that] attract a younger crowd. That one is almost sold out. We only have a few tickets left for that,” said Goetz, encouraging the public to get their tickets ASAP if they’re interested in the Saturday show.

Before each headlining performance, there will be an exclusive party for festival goers who purchase VIP tickets featuring great food, fun and fellowship. Thursday night is barbecue night, Friday is an oyster roast, and Saturday night will feature the delicious catered offerings of Treylor Park — which recently opened their seventh location on Tybee.

For beach music lovers who don’t want to break the bank, tickets for the lawn parties only are on sale as well, which is another new festival feature this year.

“If you don’t want to spend too much money or come to a late concert, or if you have a lot of people in your family, you can come to our lawn party only, which is just $10 for kids and $15 for adults. You can come out and experience The Aloha Joes and everything on the front lawn with food trucks and access to drinks as well,” he said.

The festival organizers are anticipating as many as 600 attendees this year. Proceeds from the Post Music Fest help the theater continue to execute its mission.

“The festival is a fundraiser and without fundraising and events like this, we can’t keep our lights on because we’re a nonprofit. So we truly rely on public support from the community tocontinue doing what we’re doing. We put on 200-plus shows a year, and so without that support, we wouldn’t be able to do that,” said Goetz.

The Tybee Post Music Fest is an exciting opportunity to support the island’s entertainment epicenter while enjoying great music, tantalizing food and all-around fun vibes. Find tickets and the full lineup of performances at tybeeposttheater.org/musicfest24.
