Travel back in time.  

Bring history to life with a family visit to Fort Pulaski. Part of the National Park Service, Fort Pulaski played an important role in the Civil War serving as a Confederate base before being overtaken by the Union. Kids can learn about the fort’s rich history by exploring the ramparts, casemates and surrounding nature trails. Young people can further their relationship with Fort Pulaski by participating in their Junior Ranger program, which can be completed in one or two hours.

Get wet ‘n’ wild.  

Summer isn’t summer without fun on the water, and there’s plenty of that to enjoy on Tybee. There’s something special about aquatic encounters. They can be calm and peaceful or a total adrenaline rush depending on your preference. For a tranquil experience, consider going stand-up paddleboarding. North Island Surf and Kayak has paddleboards available for rent as well as surf boards and kayaks. You can enjoy an eco-history tour or take a lesson. If something fast and furious is more your family’s speed, you may want to book with Tybee Jet Ski & Watersports. They have jet ski wave runners available so you can rip through the waters as fast as you can go. You can choose to free ride or go on a guided tour through dolphin bay. Whatever you decide, your kids are sure to have an awesome time.

Grab a bite. 

After a full day of fun, your family will have certainly worked up an appetite. Tybee is chock full of amazing eateries that would love to serve you and your young ones, but we do have a couple recommendations in case you can’t decide.
