The 4th of July is just around the corner, a time for backyard barbecues, waving flags, and fireworks lighting up the nighttime sky. During this special holiday, we celebrate our independence and the American ideals that we proudly proclaim. This year, the 4th falls on a Monday, and there are several local festivities going on throughout the area. If you’re wondering what’s going on and where you can go to celebrate Independence Day, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s a roundup of all the 4th of July events happening in the Coastal Empire.

Beach Fireworks on Independence Day Every year, Tybee celebrates America’s birthday with fireworks at the pier and pavilion. The 4th of July on Tybee is one of the island’s busiest days of the year, so come early and stay late. The fireworks will go off at dark, which will take place between 9:15 and 9:30 p.m. Though the show is staged from the pier, the fireworks will be visible from any of Tybee’s eastern beaches. Keep in mind that the 4th also coincides with Clean Beaches Week, which is held from July 1st through July 7th. The 4th is the busiest beach day of the year, which unfortunately brings a lot of litter to our shores. Do your part to keep Tybee clean and pristine this Independence Day by leaving only your footprints behind.

Savannah Stars & Stripes
Plant Riverside District will be celebrating the 4th of July with special performances and events taking place throughout the holiday weekend. Performers will include Cirque Divina, Fabulous Equinox Orchestra, the Parris Island Marine Band, the 3rd Infantry Division Band and several others. In addition to the performers there will also be a nightly fountain show, mini golf, arts and crafts and more. Check out the full schedule of events here.
Savannah’s Waterfront Independence Day Sponsored in part by Plant Riverside District, Savannah’s Waterfront will host their annual Independence Day Fireworks Show on July 4th. The show will take place from 9:15 to 9:45 p.m. Spectators are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to lounge on while enjoying the show. Coolers, however, are discouraged.
