The 14th Annual Tybee Turtle Trot 5K Beach Run and Turtle Release to be Held April 28
TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. – Tybee Island will host the 14th Annual Tybee Turtle Trot 5K Beach Run and Turtle Release on Saturday, April 28. Registration is $25 for Tybee Island Marine Science Center members and $30 for non-members. Race participants who sign-up before midnight April 19 will receive a race t-shirt. Online registration is available through Active.com or via the science center website.
The race is an annual fundraiser for the Tybee Island Marine Science Center sea turtle conservation efforts and kicks off the official start to sea turtle nesting season on May 1st.
Proceeds from race participation support our nesting sea turtle monitoring program, the Tybee Sea Turtle Project, and help cover visiting turtles room and board.



THE SCHEDULE
April 19: Registration deadline for a free tee-shirt.
April 26: Online registration ends at noon, but you can still register in-person.
April 27: Packet pick-up from 4 to 7 p.m. at the science center.
April 28: Sign-in/Registration starts 7 a.m. and the run begins at 8 a.m.
AWARD CEREMONY AND FUN FOLLOWS THE BEACH RUN
Awards go to the top three finishers in each age group and overall top male/female winners.
After the race, we’ll have our ceremonial releasing of a sea turtle back to the ocean with our partners from the Georgia Sea Turtle Center (GSTC), a hospital for sick/injured turtles. It’s all happening at the Tybee Pier & Pavilion; the run, a sea turtle release, music, Terrapin beer, and free admission to the science center for all race participants.
